It's less about financial oversight and more about reducing the power of owners to do what they want with clubs. Plans include greater fan participation, an independent regulator that I assume may be able to block unpopular moves and enforcing a bigger contribution from the PL down the football pyramid.

I really just think they want to cash out some equity and diversify their holdings due to interest rate increases. Not sure about Man U, but with Liverpool the reporting is that FSG specifically want to keep a controlling share of the club.

The Glazers came out and implied they were interested in selling more or less the day after Ronaldo's tell-all interview that humiliated them. Haven't heard a thing about KSE wanting to make a move.

I'm pretty sure most freak results like that happen due to outscoring xG by an irregular amount rather than having an irregularly high xG.

xG wasn't a thing back then, so nobody knows what was United's xG at the game. But from my memory, some of United's goals were long range curlers and generally the feeling was that everything just fucking went it, not that they bombarded us relentlessly with hundreds of wasted chances.

Herbas yeah, that's true. Ashley Young scored two worldies in one game, I seem to remember a Rooney free kick as well. The rest of it is a bit of a blur.
