Amorim wouldn't have been a success as a manager, I think that became very clear early on, but he might have cleaned up the mess and positioned the club well for the right manager further down the line.

It works for a few months while you manage to deceive your opponents that you're worse than you are, but how are you gonna build on that? Slot couldn't do it after winning a title, and he's better than Carrick. System relies entirely on forwards to bail you out and United don't have any of those who are anywhere near good enough.
