I’m not sure if i agree with you on it being acknowledged as a given on here that Saliba would come in and join the group of cb’s we already have. It wouldn’t’ve been such a contentious issue if it was. Anyone pretending like their only issue with it was because it weakened us last season just reeks of short termism. The plan was obviously always to have all three of them.
You’re bang on about it being less about individuals, though. The sooner we start looking at it as a team, instead of who the first 11 is the better off we’ll be. Which is why i never understood people shitting on Ben White as much as they were. He’s been awesome since he turned up, but i get it, it was a White vs Gabriel/Saliba thing for a lot of people, but we’re only four weeks into fielding all three of them and White has already made that line of thinking look pretty fucken stupid. We’re lucky to have them all.
We’ve got a variety of options at most positions now and it’s a real credit to Edu, Arteta and the team for getting us into this position.
