Mirth Wasn't really thinking of football, more the broader stuff like the headscarf bans, "de-radicalisation" programs where Islamic kids are foghorned La Marseillaise and so on … but it's been relentless under Macron, who got himself elected under a supposedly inclusive banner and has lurched almost all the way to the right for a decade now. I think it's disgraceful, but it sometimes seems as if the French don't understand how it looks from the outside (and I'm saying that as an Australian citizen)
