As a backup Scamacca would be good. but only if reasonably priced.

Reports from Italy we have made an offer of around 40m for Scamacca, but the player rejected a move as he wants to remain in Italy.
Likewise Lautaro has also rejected any moves outside Serie A.

I'm looking for us to sign someone who is a threat in the air to get on the end of crosses into the box when we play teams who want to sit deep and compact.
I don't care if it's at CF, CM,WF or even as a bench option.

IMO it's a weakness at both LFC and MC, although Haaland will address that issue at MC with his size and physical ability.

I want a better version of Giroud. Scamacca is not it.

Laca was threatened to be it but then faded.

To be honest a better version of Giroud is what I would expect him to be. Whether that's enough is a different question, but the image people have of Giroud since he left is warped.

Anyway, this rumour is a weird one. The opinions of him differ from thinking he's not good enough for us to thinking we'd be an unambitious move for him because he could play for better clubs, and I don't even see a trend in which opinion is the dominating one.

Have seen him called the new Zlatan which, even if ridiculous, should indicate there is something about him.
Likewise saw a take where his playing minutes were converted to actual 90 mins, which saw his goals per 90 sit above some of the more fancied players.

IIRC he signed that deal after the summer transfer window closed, and the new release clause is something like 76m. He also said he would only leave for UCL football, and has recently said he is not looking/wanting to leave this summer.
