Wouldn’t have been the sort of right back I wanted but after watching Cedric and Chambers fumble around in defence I’ll definitely take someone who knows how to defend. Sounds like he’s decent on the ball too, so hopefully I won’t have to watch Bermuda triangles at the back anymore.

artetas recruitment profile of 'retreat to move forward' is complete. we better start seeing some of the most thrilling build up play in our own half of the pitch

The thing with any signings at the moment which is nothing to do with the players is I don't trust or recruitment, edu it Arteta. So I have no faith they are bringing in any players that might make a difference.

But as I said it's not the players fault. Never heard of this guy but hope he can turn out to be a good signing for us.

Yeap, struggling to get excited about anything at the moment because I just know the football will be drab regardless of who we sign.

I like this signing. He had a very good couple of seasons in Serie A.

The problem I see why did we wait until the deadline day to get it done.

the hopeful part of me thinks that we always wanted, him but we waited and waited for a better offers for our right backs which were never forthcoming, so we settled on a loan for bellers right at the death and pushed the tomiyasu deal through

the less hopeful part of me views it as a low hanging deal that could've been done much earlier, and the only reason we didn't is because we were exploring other options, but settled for someone who was 4th/5th on our short-list of right backs

The latter is probably closer to reality, given the links to Hakimi, Trippier, etc. all through the window.

I don't believe we were ever seriously interested in Trippier. Everyone we signed is 23 and under, why would we suddenly be after a 30 year old? Seems to me like his agent tried linking him to United for half the summer and when they didn't bite he tried us.

Think we simply put all our priorities wrongly. We tried to go into the season with our options at RB to see if we can survive but it quickly backfired and showed Arteta once again how horrendous our 4 RBs are.

Then we panicked for a last minute purchase, couldn't find any RB and went for someone young who can also play RB.

Pretty much.

We were not actually linked seriously with any other right back either, so I'm pretty sure it's a case of 'hey maybe we should sell at least one of our four right backs first before we buy another'.
