I agree with that view Ricky. In Henry's and Raul's heydays you were absolutely champagne if you scored 6-7 goals in a Champions League season. Nowadays Ronaldo will bag that amount just in a group stage double fixture against some bottom of the barrel team like MalmΓΆ. It's not because players are better nowadays, it's the concentration of wealth and talent that has moved to a smaller number of clubs.
Haller is a classy player though, and I think he was grossly misused by West Ham. A few untimely injuries on top ruined what should have been a big break for him. He still scored, what, two or three bicycle kicks during his brief spell there? Definitely a player with a high technical ability.
