Yep. It’s going to be a real challenge for Poch. PSG needs a manager that commands instant respect and for the superstar players to buy into his vision. You can have maybe one or two players who you want to excuse from doing the hard work because of their genius and ability to turn the game single-handedly. I think PSG was at their best when Di Maria was at his prime - a selfless superstar. But when you’ve got 3 guys who think the dirty work is beneath them you’re in big trouble. Neymar isn’t going to change at this stage in his career, and neither is Messi. Maybe Mbappe, but I think his ego is a bit too big already.

I think PSG can be perfectly fine with all pressing just high as they're doing now and not tracking back deep into their own half, that team minus Messi got into a CL final and knocked plenty of big clubs out of Europe, the very same team won 2-0 at home vs City. Their problem yesterday was that City had a better midfield and was much better drilled, Guardiola has his team for six years now while Pochettino hasn't been there for even a year. Also Pochettino is a bit shit anyway.

Unreal how Sebastien Haller got nine goals and two assists in his fifth CL match yesterday yet wasn't good enough for West Ham. Would love to see him here, if he had just a little more pace he'd be the perfect striker. Great work rate and link up, unbeatable in the air, scores all types of goals

Asensio is one of the biggest injury regrets in football. Before he tore his ACL he'd score a goal like that every other week, bar Messi I don't think there's any player who has such ridiculous aim. Always seems to hit the inside of the post

Salzburg the youngest team to ever qualify for the KO Stage. Pretty impressive how they constantly loses their best players and managers and still manage to play attractive football year on year at the highest level.

Their inexperience doesn't seem to work against them at all.

Their managers age and inexperience doesn't seem to hinder them either.

Their attacking style of play, even against bigger European clubs, doesn't seem to hinder them either.

Most importantly like every other example you can find, their new manager impose his style really quickly in a few matches and didn't need 3-4 windows of "own" players and 3 years or more longterm plan to be successful in their circumstances.

Still seems insane to throw Emery away in favor of Arteta.

I thought Emery deserved to be sacked for the run he was on, the problem I have is that Arteta has had similar runs with nothing but backing. Imagine we'd supported Emery with signings the way we did with Arteta, he's almost certainly have gotten us back into the CL.

the hierarchy certainly never backed him as fully as arteta. as we came to find out afterwards, signings torreira and pepe weren't even his choices

I'm just glad we didn't wait too long to sack Emery. He was never the right man for the job. He's a good coach, although certainly not an elite one, he's not a squad builder or the guy you want for the long-term.

Whether Arteta is or not remains to be seen, but that's besides the point.

I obviously don’t think it remains to be seen and I don’t think it's besides the point. If we can't conclude yet whether Arteta is the man how can we conclude on Emery when he got fired before he got the backing that Arteta has?
