I think there's a bit more to come yet. Not knocking him in anyway, I love the guy and he's beyond doubt as my player of the season now.

Said this the other day but I feel he hasn't quite been the direct threat he was last season and after thinking about it I think it's because he's become such a central focus and taken on even more of the burden of the playmaking this season due to the form and fitness issues of Saka and Martinelli and unsettled CF position. They're not hitting the same highs as last season, and as a consequence I don't think Odegaard has had the same opportunities to make those late runs to get on the end of things in the box or get that little bit of extra space that allows him to get a shot off.

He must have superhuman powers of recovery too.

These match comps keep getting taken down, but this one's still up. One of the more astonishing spectacles of passing you'll see. He tormented them. As a defender you'd be both frustrated by the subtle combinations of first touch with elusive movement, and terrified where he might roll his next slide-rule pass.

Burnwinter "hounded to death by a poet". They couldn't get near him. Towards the end there he took Cucurella for a dance at the ball and twirled him about so much he was in a totally different picture frame while Prince Odegaard had already left to find a new dance partner.

I knew Edu pushed hard to the Brazilians from Lyon that subsequently we didn't opt for, but never knew in that window Odegaard was insisted by Edu. So who pushed for Buendia?

Claudius Real Madrid are very good at selling players as well. He looked good in the spell but didn't look like he was gonna tear the house down.

That loan spell with us is what sealed it, Odegaard knew exactly what the club was about so made it clear he only wanted to join us. At that time the club were in a difficult place, was hard to attract top players.

Agree with your first sentence. Second one, I don't think they were broke or needed to sell him. I don't think they were even planning to sell him, neither was he wanting to leave them, until he found out he wasn't gonna be a first team player. At that point late in the window his team decided he would leave, and we had already done the work to persuade him to join only us. Madrid don't typically keep players they don't need and are generally happy to sell below valuation because they have usually have some shiny new toy to play with.

Clrnc everything at the time suggested Odegaard was always the plan. It's why we didn't seriously go after anyone else (including Buendia). People were distinctly annoyed by it all because they thought we weren't trying to sign anyone!

Gurgen Yup, I've said the same a couple of times now. He's crazy good. That amount of talent sometimes comes at the cost of work-rate and desire with players but not with this guy. Still pressing like an absolute madman as we approach the 90. It's insane. He's really, really special. And to top it all off he's a brillaint captain too.

Me dear mam loves him, her favourite player we've ever had that she's seen.
