Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert the modern game is a lot more mechanical than it used to be tbh. A lot of the flair has been taken out of the game for more repeatable, cog like movements on and off the ball.

In the grand scheme of things, a performance against Brighton may get lost in the dozens of games we play but Ode reached a world class level tonight. One of the best performances I’ve seen in a long time from an Arsenal player

Only regret is Martinelli not finishing that attempted assist from Odegaard. It was a shame. Unfortunate such world class moments can get forgotten.

This is an incredible player. I keep saying this, but we have the elite playmaking talent for the next decade in the league. His combination of vision, skill and workrate is unlike anything I’ve seen at this team

I think it comes down to this idea that he couldn’t score. If folks did t see goals and assists they assumed he was doing nothing. Advanced metrics showed that he was very influential even before the G/A numbers rose

Odegaard has raised his level since then though. Great to see. It’s almost as if he’s just realising how good he is or can be and he’s starting to be more courageous - we’re now seeing a lot more penetration particularly when running with the ball

Claudius nah it wasn't that, I really liked Ode and was chuffed when we eventually signed him. So appreciated what he brought to the table. But yeah, the G/A that Maddison brought to the table was what swung it for me, because at the time it was something we were severely lacking in.

what a supreme player we have here. one thing which has helped him go up a gear is he now has the timing of epl football ingrained in him. he almost never gets blind sided by a rushing defender or press, which would happen more often in the earlier part of him arsenal career. when a player with his quality and vision locks into a rhythm like this, they're very hard to stop. he looks composed in all match situations now, which allows him to take riskier passing options as well

So glad he's proved me wrong. I was concerned he'd be regularly swallowed up in the bigger games, and that his vision and creativity was "pretty good" at best.

He's pulling out the tricks in addition to the beautiful through-balls now, at an elite playmaking level.
