I've been past this. This is who he is, who he's always been. The frustrations haven't changed, the ability is still there, as we've seen flashed in a few games this season, think Zubimendi assist game for example. Long story short I think Arteta helped him initially, and then as we evolved, has fucking ruined him. Turned into a play safe machine.

Hopefully today's performance puts an end to whatever weird-ass psychodrama is going on between Arteta and Odegaard. I really don't think subbing him off against Forest or Man U made us any better at all and today's starting lineup was 2017-2020 levels of terrorism. I hope this is behind us.

I didn't mind the starting line-up. Plays a bit ugly but it's confusing for every other club so used to the 6-8-8 we've played with Ødegaard for 5 years straight.

The player showed his value while he was on the pitch. Ødegaard in the very same timid, shit form he's been in, and he still teed up two scoring situations. On this evidence an uncertain place in the first XI and less responsibility won't do him any harm.

Qwiss absolutely. It’s simple. If a player is consistently below his best, drop him. And if a player does well, like Havertz, reward him. I’m glad the whole team is getting minutes. Will come in handy soon

Good to see Arteta clarify that Odegaard isn't carrying out instructions by dropping deep but is given the freedom to make those decisions. It's also upto Arteta to extract more out of Odegaard who is clearly playing well below his best level. I am personally less fixated on goals and assists from him but right now his creativity is poor. I think he can enable opening up teams and low blocks without necessarily contributing directly via goals and/ or assists. He is not doing that currently but has shown he is perfectly capable. Arteta's job to help him find that zone again.
