Gunner89 but if this isn't instruction then as a manager you shouldn't be playing the guy as what he's doing offers nothing beneficial to the team. So even with the idea it's not what Arteta wants it doesn't then look good if he plays him.

Can see the club agreeing to moving him on if that’s his desire. Should command a decent fee, whilst opening space for Ethan.

Eze should be fully Arsenalised by then too.

lorddulaarsenal We need to seriously consider things if a good offer comes in imo, been a great player for us but quite clear for a while now something isn’t right. Slows down our play and we need someone quicker with and without the ball.

Flies in the face of the usual baseless criticisms that players have no freedom, and we're too rigid, structured and coached.

Need to drop Rice back to six (in non-big games) and have him and Zubi compete while Havertz plays as the most attacking midfielder.

We'll get more offensively with Havertz and Gyokeres together.

So we need to shoe horn an out of form player so that arguably our 2 best players this season fight it out for one spot. Laughable.

Odegaard runs around but adds nothing defensively except the pressing because his tackling & strength is shit, and even going deep he isn't playing any through balls or progressive passes, it's just sideways and backwords, with his productivity down too he adds nothing to the squad at this moment.

Rice is currently the only 8 playing consistently well. Seems mad to drop him to the 6 where he's far worse than Zubi and possibly not even better than Norgaard in the role. And for what, to get more of our misfiring 8s on the pitch?

Rice and Zubi are doing well in their roles. No way we should be changing that to accommodate out of form players.

It's an option that has previously cooked for us in 24 when we went on a long winning run. Havertz feels like the key to unlocking both Odegaard and Gyokeres.

I'm still conflicted about Rice as an 8 - he doesn't offer enough in open play against most teams. I'm not married to one configuration, I've long wanted for us to be more flexible with how we use Rice because theres no reason for him to always play as an 8 with Eze, Odegaard and Havertz as options.

I would really like to see a lineup like the following soon:

Eze/Trossard - Gyokeres - Saka
Rice - Zubi - Havertz
Calafiori - Gabi - Saliba - Timber

I'd be okay with a few variations of that potentially with Havertz up top and Eze at CM but I really want to see Eze at LW for a few matches to see what we have.

Ødegaard's not in great shape or form and not helping the team as he once did currently.

The deep-lying running on the ball looks a bit like a lack of physical confidence after the injuries. I don't think that Tet video counts as a criticism of Ødegaard, but it would be vaguely comforting if the inscrutable things the player's doing weren't part of some six-dimensional tactical chess.

I think the criticism of him has become overheated. It looks to me like wasting chances is a bigger problem for us than failing to create them. It's just another demonstration of how many anxious, hungry wolves there are among Arsenal fans.

Even so, if Ødegaard's form is going to be so debatable the best thing would be for Eze to hijack the position with a few undroppably good performances.

Burnwinter Ode is still a great player. Out of form. We have lots of players who can take minutes while he gets back to speed. But I’m not going to casually bet against one of the best mids I’ve ever seen in an Arsenal shirt

Burnwinter odegaard has never been clinical consistently that's just the player he is now it's been long enough to see that I don't think that's something I'm judging him on. It's why creating matters otherwise he doesn't add anything meaningful.

Claudius Yeah, I feel the same. I wouldn't bet against him being involved in a few decisive moments this season, worst case.

Seems there could be a psychological block in addition to some physical and football factors. He's a rather sensitive character. Maybe the burdens of fatherhood have set him back.

I agree, although it is near/got to the point were "let him play himself into form" isn't working, injuries can have different effect on players

Interested to see what he does in today's game as I'm sure he would have heard what Arteta has said and probably wants to react to it in some way.. personally think having Rice next to him has been a factor in why he decided to drop deep a lot more, but his form is down to him.

It's been floated in the past and it's a lot of ifs.. but if we can get Eze to perform there and/or Nwaneri coming of age, I can see a world were next season he drops into the other midfield role a lot more, offers almost the polar opposite of what Rice does.. Arteta loves having different options... would need to relax his fixation on dominance a bit.
