My favourite player at the moment, at least to watch. Second half against Villa (what miss?) was superb, there were two or three occasions where his feet got him out of situations where I didn’t think it were an option.

I actually had a look at Lampard - the season he scored 22, 10 of them were penalties. He did score 16 in another season from open play though. Yaya Toure scored 14 open play goals in his big season. So still impressive and there's 4 games left.

goon Unbelievable amount of goals really, especially when you consider he's missed a few good chances as well this season.

JazzG the difference in what he's willing to go for between this season and last is huge. A real giant leap forward in his taking the goal scoring responsibility upon himself. And he's done it while keeping up his creative output. I think the responsibility of being captain has been a bit of a double edged sword at times this season, its certainly pushed him on to play like this but maybe it also added some pressure in recent weeks. If he can maintain his importance and output next season and maybe get a bit more steely in the face of that pressure he'll overtake DeBruyne as the leagues best attacking midfielder.

I like him but he went missing for most of the recent four games we dropped points.

I’ve noticed he usually has 3 good performances, 1 completely vanish, 1 amazing, 3 good, 1 vanish. Still a bit inconsistent.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 Single handedly dragged us to a come back vs Soton, scored against WHU and was unplayable in the first half in both London stadium and Anfield. Never disappeared any more than others.

Agree about he's not quite consistent enough to be a top player just yet. Can look very good and then look very ordinary or not involved. Needs to improve in the coming sessions to be more regularly delivering especially when we got the wall like recent matches in particular.

yup, that was a nonsense take, especially the Soton game. The main reason we got any points at all then.

Hopefully he gets more consistency and is able to be much more influential next year. This was a good season from him. Not great, good.

Among the first 11, there are a few players who I can't even imagine replacing with someone else and Odegaard makes that list, along with Saka and Partey. They may have some off games but these players could slot into a lot of the great teams of recent years comfortably.

Others I can imagine upgrading - Ramsdale (crosses), White (offensively), Zinc (defensively), Xhaka (not top class), Martinelli (technically lacking a bit), Jesus (lack of goals) - despite all their upsides.

Still only 24. As others have pointed out this is one of the most prolific goal-scoring seasons from a midfielder in Premier League history.

Technically brilliant especially at getting the ball out of his feet while moving at a clip, and there are some near impossible passes he lays off running into tight spaces that we've started to take for granted, saw a couple of these at least in the Chelsea match in addition, of course, to his goals.

If he improves at all from here in terms of his output or consistency, he will become one of the best midfielders this league's seen.

I think looking at individuals disappearing is a dangerous game anyway. As we saw in the EL, when the team isn't on it more often than not everyone falters. We have a very team centric squad.

goon the flip side of that is that we don't have players who can single-handedly win matches by themselves when we aren't functioning as a unit. Think that relates to the discussion in the Jesus thread.
