He still favours the right but I think the players have a better understanding of their positioning now. Before they were simply following instructions which resulted in a more literal execution. Now that they understand it, things are more fluid.

Good example is the way Saka receives the ball. Makes a little dart inside and White picks up on it immediately. Enables him to get the ball without being clattered. Happened a few times against Spurs and they couldn’t live with it. Not possible if Ode is in that space so he shifts infield or further forward. Clive pointed this out on Arsenal Vision weeks ago and it’s been happening more and more ever since.

Yeah agree. Think there has been quite a bit of that in the last few weeks/month. Noticing that there is more interchange of positions happening and who joins as the attacking 5. The system really is all second nature to them now which is great to see.

Still a bit hard to see, but I think Øde pretty much uses his right boot to spin the ball onto the top of his left toe where it sits for a fraction of a second before he lifts, rather than kicking it forward, with great accuracy, all while moving at high pace.

I'm not sure either. It sort of looks like he scuffs down with his right foot and somehow the result is the ball backspinning onto his left, like a pool trick shot? But he might just be serving the whole thing off his left.

They showed a reverse angle slow-mo replay on the stream I watched. He didn't touch it with his right. It was basically an elastico through pass. Ridiculous. Dude's a footballing savant.

There's one thing doing that at home to Bournemouth when you're 2-0 up and another thing doing it in a highly charged game at 2-2 when you need a goal. A couple of superb first time switches of play too.

When we put him up, I thought of that "hungry group of lads" interview from last season. For me it was that sound bite when you realised he was speaking pretty confidently on behalf of the squad coming through, which he continues to do.

I'd also add that watching him on the pitch since he's been made captain, he's surprised me with how vocal he is and what a big presence he is within the team. A real leader and a fantastic advocate for Arteta.

It is probably more of a physical thing. Cave man instincts. We want the leader to be a big fella who looks like he can handle himself. Even better if he beats his chest and shouts loudly once in a while. Otherwise we feel unprotected

One of the distinctive aspects of this Arsenal is how adherence to Arteta's demands is thoroughly ingrained in the squad. Øde takes the lead on that. How often have we ever seen footballers celebrating their coach's latest tactical refinements, as with the "basketball" celebration?

It would all be a bit sickening if he were less of a brilliant player and we were doing less well.
