Still haven't seen the game but I can imagine how this guy played.

Let me guess, a few poor touches, lack of brave passing and general inability to cope with a physical/fast paced test away from the carpet?

He was poor but so was Xhaka. Its games like that where I want to see some leadership from my captain and the guy everyone says is a big leader. Both looked like they thought it was beneath them last night.

They all started disinterested. They seemed like they didn't care.
When we did a bunch of substitutions late in the game, you could see a difference in the energy. but the game was gone by then.
What is clear is that our players are levels above PSV, physically and skillfully. They just did not turn up.

Well we brought on basically our 3 best players in Saka, Partey and Jesus. With all those off the pitch there is a real lack of seriousness. Missed Martinellis urgency too.

Odegaard certainly has aspects to his game that are really good but he's also has some very poor attributes and for me is nowhere near consistent enough with his influence in games. Have to hope it's just developmental because he's been positioned at one of our key players and we will need much more from him.

Not sure about being disinterested, that's not normally the consequence of bad touches and loose passes. Those sorts of things happen and there was clearly something up with the pitch.

I think people need to adjust their expectations a little though. Jesus isn't going to put away chances like Haaland, Saka isn't going to approach his goal scoring chances with the decisiveness of Salah, Odegaard isn't going to display the consistency of KDB and Gabriel isn't going to be error free like VVD.

The team is on a journey to try and get there but in the mean time they've all done their bit to have us sitting there at the top of the league, there's no point picking on the flaws in their game when a period comes around where it's not quite happening. Relax and enjoy watching how they develop imo.

It'd be a pretty boring forum if all we did was sit around never analysing performances or trying to discuss where we think improvements can be made.

Six months ago Arteta said this about Ode: "What we are working on now, you will see in three months or six months". Do you see anything he's significantly better at than before? I'm really not sure.

He needs to be more aggressive, in his general play and especially his shooting. Gets into many good positions and won't put the ball away.

It would be equally boring though if I came on here and said Saka and Martinelli need to start scoring goals at the rate of Salah and Mane each time one of them misses a chance.

Analysis, criticism etc. is fine, I'm not stranger to it. I'm just making sure that when we're criticising the likes of Ode for his inconsistency or struggles in particular games or moments we also remember that he's played a big part in the good bits that have contributed to us being top.
