Cesc is managing an artificially stacked team out of a luxury resort and spa, bankrolled by a 50 billion dollar tobacco company, in a league that is crumbling to dust. Look at their website ffs, it's a grotesque example of shameless wealth-flaunting that might have passed for old world European glamor in the 1980s.

Phil Parkinson at Wrexham is doing something more impressive, and I do not mean that as a compliment to Parkinson.

Think Cesc is doing some good stuff, but he's also got the richest owners in Italy footing the bill. The rest of the league is in crisis mode and he gets everything he points to. If he left tomorrow Como would still keep improving. What's more interesting is looking at his football, and it's basically just tiki-taka possession football in a 4-2-3-1 shape; no new ideas or anything. He's playing the same football he cut his teeth on as a player which is fair enough, but I don't think it'll carry him to the top. There's daylight between him and someone like Arteta or Alonso.

The former Arsenal man who's doing the most interesting things in Serie A at the moment is probably Carlos Cuesta, who kept Parma in Serie A without any resources at all. Odds were well stacked against him.

Yes but it’s Cesc’s first job in football and everything is relative. 4 years ago most of us never heard of Como as a football club. Sometimes it’s ok to give credit when it’s due.

We’ve had plenty of worse snakes than Cesc in the past. My memories of Cesc are his winner and celebrations v Milan in 08 and various goals v Spurs/Utd. He was a winner in the wrong team at the time.

Vieria also threatened to leave countless times yet nothing is said about him. Yes I know it was a bit latter in his career. What about your boy Overmars? Is he a cunt for leaving in 2000 too? Or is it because Cesc played for Chelsea when Arsenal didn’t want him in summer 2014? What did you want him to do, retire from the game?

I went to a Como game in October 2022. They beat Perugia 1-0. I went because we were on holiday there and because Cesc was playing and I wanted to see him in the flesh. It's a crumbling old stadium, like many in Italy, but in a beautiful town in a gorgeous setting.

I just turned up at the ticket window and bought a ticket - needed to show my passport so luckily I had that with me. The ticket window was something out of a WW1 bunker - thin slot in the concrete wall. And there were a lot of machine gun toting police patrolling barbed wire enclosures for the 100 or so away fans. Very different feel to my experience of visiting the Emirates.

And the football that day was definitely Serie B level. Nice for them that they have come so far.

Qwiss Como are also another shitty city like clone spending loads of money but painting it like an underdog story I hate those types of clubs.
