Even people on here thought he'd seriously go to Abu Dhabi or whatever it was and "ride off into the sunset". No respect. Bloke's one of the best strikers in European football. I wouldn't put it past him to pick up a golden boot in Spain too.

We knew the risks of giving a 31 year old 3 year deal on £350k a week. Our problem was we were so reliant on him as the rest of the team were substandard. Damned if we do and damned if we don't. We shouldn't get ourselves into that kind of situation again. From what I remember he signed on a 3.5 year contract and had been with us 2.5 years.

I agree at the time it seemed like the right thing to do but then again this is why you don't let people like me make those decisions.....

Eh, he is still performing at the highest level. He rejected moves to retirement leagues because he is still very motivated and want to win trophies. If anything, this proves that giving him the 3 year deal is the right call. Nobody would foresee that spat with the manager to the point he went public and the rest is history

Yeah thats spot on. People were trying to use age, etc as an excuse but it was always just the clash of personalities that was the problem.

He was our top scoring striker when he was sold anyway for a team that barely scored and most matches are still tight low scoring now except for the matches against relegation teams.

Anyway he has proved that he definitely still has it and it was more down to our lack of service rather than him. Like I said there was a stat that we have created the least for our striker this season since opta has started collecting stats 20 years ago

I have absolutely zero interest in engaging in discussion about Auba. Too much of it is in bad faith and some form of point scoring.

Exactly and that’s what I said in the beginning.

Auba can score 150 goals for Barca in 2022 and it was still the right decision to let him go.

Aubameyang is a top player.

Sometimes there is a clash, and the manager wins. I’m not on Arteta’s side on this one at all, but to be fair it was not overnight.

Nearly two years before the relationship could not be salvaged.

Hopefully both parties go on to enjoy a successful season.

All discussion is some form of point scoring then. There were plenty of arguments here trying to say he was done and that we were lucky for someone to take him off our hands. I don't remember your specific stance because you've taken pretty much every pro and contra position on anything Arsenal related but just take it on the chin if you've been proven wrong
