Xavi definitely looks like he has the makings of a top manager. Virtually everyone is playing levels better than they were under Koeman, happy for Xavi because it'll put another dent in that fat fuck's reputation

Nonsense, he was in shit form but his work rate was never in question, everyone was praising him for it just weeks before he was banished.

Dembele was publicly blasted by Laporta and Xavi got him back into the fold putting in MOTM performances. If Auba is able to do this at Barcelona he would've been able to do it here

I don’t get what bringing Laca up all the time has to do with anything? Laca and Auba are not the same players they were in 2019.

I'm saying that you will call Laca a big game player for having an assist against Wolves and at the same time talk down Auba's two goals against RM so whether RM will go out against City in the CL or not doesn't really have anything to do with it. It's something you did even when he was still here so it's not anything new really.

It’s got nothing to do with it being a weaker league or work rate, he is playing in a system that suits him and more importantly he’s got his swagger and confidence back. His assist for Torres would have never happened here even in an identical scenario. You looked at his face in his last few months here and he looked sapped of energy.

I wouldn't say Emery after his last days but under MOST managers, Auba would still be bagging 30 a season for us.

I'll gladly excuse his mishandling if Arteta gets us top 4 this season.

Agree Xavi has really turned things around in super quick time. I think a lot of the problem was Koeman, guy was just fucking useless and would have been sacked before if Barca weren't near enough broke.

Xavi inherited issues but also inherited a super talented squad. Some good seasoned players with some absolute unreal talents coming through their ranks.

Real just battered PSG, they'd at least be the 4th best team in the Premier League, I'd wager they're better than Chelsea as well. Let's not pretend Auba's feasting on minnows, La Liga is the second strongest league in the world, and if he had signed for City or Liverpool he'd be banging them in as well. Arteta failed to manage him correctly, both on and off the pitch. It's as simple as that. We've done well without him, so there's really no point complaining about it though. Worked out for both sides as it stands.

Booting Auba out was a massive call, we all knew it. Arteta is the one who lives or dies by that decision and at the moment he's getting away with it. If he gets top 4 and Auba keeps banging them in then it's the "best for everyone" scenario that it looks now.

I think Auba need trust and happiness to perform. He is still one of the top strikers in the world, that much is clear.

Probably one of the signing of the decade if he continues this form. Barcelona is receiving money for a top player scoring week in week out for them till July, let alone just a free transfer. As of now it suits all parties and I am happy for him, but we also only have ourselves to blame for killing his value totally.

It should hopefully stop the club from offering the kind of deals we did for him and Ozil. Both should not have been allowed to run down their contracts and then be given gold plated contracts.

Auba had been at the club just two seasons when he signed the extension. In hindsight of course it didn't work out but what do you suggest we should've done, let a world class striker leave because his contract expires in a year or two?

Yep. But not because of his contract but because of his obvious decline and bad fit into the vision of the club and the manager.
