the shithousery and power makes people very fond of Lauren, but if I looked at it objectively it's always Sagna over him.

Anyway, looks like we're never that hard up on right backs. Even Heccy was pretty good pre-injuries.

The level of neurotic obsession people have nowadays, tracking every moment of every game, every data point, and everything they can get their hands on. No wonder fans are so anxiety ridden concerning their teams. Check Ceefax for the scores, listen to the radio for the coverage, and MOTD for the highlights. Imagine how many players would come off favourably without todays level of scrutiny.

See? When I say Ben White is not a great defender I get push back, but he knows it himself.

He probably also knows that playing out of defense in tight situations is not his strong point. Yes he is versatile, and of course can mostly hold his own defensively (at least when compared to Claudius' boy Zinchenko), but ruggedness and availability are his best qualities rather than technical ability, and that's good enough. Knowing when you need to foul is as much a defensive skill as any. No one stops their man every time.

Defending has changed. It’s not just about making the beautiful tackle like Maldini. You get men behind the ball as much as possible, and the cynical foul is the tool to do that. Watch Manchester City @flobaba, they are the masters of the cynical foul. It’s part of why both teams don’t give up chances.

Cynical fouls are part of the game, we are much better at them and part of the reason defensively we look a lot better this season.

1v1 is definitely White's weakness, he seems to just get himself in the wrong body shape when it comes to defending 1v1. So definitely think it is something he could be coached on.

JazzG He doesn't need to be good at 1v1, in fact he shoudln't even be in that position with that quality since he is a CB by trade and not a fullback.

White is rarely in trouble at the back, his pressing, positioning, heading or his tactical fouls usually take care of it well before he ends up 1v1.

It’s why we’re so good defensively at the moment, the whole team defends proactively rather than reactively.

As for his technical ability, Basic Ben has the best first touch in the team for me, whether it’s with his feet or chest.

The other thing to note with Ben is the amount of ground he covers defensively. He will start in his right back position when we are pressing, but when the ball goes out to an opposing left back or left centre back, he then flies forward into a right wing spot to intensify the pressure. The man’s defensive work rate is incredibly impressive.
