I think painting United has having it much worse than us is a bit of wishful thinking. All we have over them is a couple of games in hand. Other than that were level with them and are still in the CL. They're having a bad season under an interim manager but if I was looking at the 2 sides over the next couple of years and had to lay a bet on who'd make it into the CL more often I wouldn't back us.

Fair enough.

I'd back us to finish ahead of them this season due to our respective fixtures, and I think their squad is sufficiently imbalanced and rickety that it'll need major surgery.

Be interesting to see how it pans out.

United's squad is a mess and their whole set up is up in the air. I 100% would not swap positions with them. We can't compete with their spending power but people have been saying they are inevitable for a long time now, and if we spend well it really doesn't matter if they want to spend £80m on another Maguire.

I don't think there squad is half as bad as people claim. Ronaldo has been an absolutely disaster for them, if they can get him out and get a decent manager in I don't think its a tough job to right that ship. Ole had them playing much better last season with more or less the same squad minus Ronaldo, Sancho, Varane.

united have been messy for 7-8 years but have pulled out of many nosedives and have still been better than us in the main. their current state is worth a chuckle but id still be reticent to say we'll right our ship before theirs.

I had him wrong at the beginning and thought he was a nice boy, and that was the only real worry I had about him, but he's actually a massive shithouser. He has a real edge to him. I saw him knocking Jiminez around plenty of other times off the ball - his little shoves before they contested headers were particularly good. Love it!

He still needs to bulk up and improve in many aspects but he's definitely no choir boy, you can see a vicious streak sometimes that few in the squad have. Surprised you think he's a nice kid what with all the tattoos and the Essex tan 😆

Been our best defender in 2022 for me.

Only going to get better. Should be in the next England squad for sure.

Great performance yesterday. Has definitely grown through the season, smart player. Needs to work on his long balls though.

Pleased with how he's developing. He's imposing himself more offensively and is less of a liability defensively. Agree that he could still do with bulking up a bit or at the very least improve his timing/positioning when heading but positive signs.

He just looked like a bit of a poser to me, and he started meakly. I was a bit concerned at the beginning, but hoped and expected he would grow into playing for The Arsenal, and all the challenges that brings.

I agree 100% he can improve on everthing, he's far from the finished product, but I rate so many aspects of his game - and I think once he packs on some muscle he'll be on the way to becoming the complete centreback all top teams long for. The nasty streak and unflinching will to win he has is essential to being a top drawer CB imo.

I don't know if this was deliberate, but he kept passing the ball just behind Cedric making it look like a poor pass, Wolves then pounce to try and close down before Cedric would play a little reverse pass into Partey. Happened 2 or 3 times which is the only reason I wonder if it's an intentional bait.

But yeah he was sublime yesterday and played with real confidence. Got a little lucky with the Coady incident though.

My understand is that this would be considered as being part of the tactical purpose of playing out from the back and also how to control/manipulate the opposition press/trigger= draw the opposition out/forward and then pass the ball to a player in position to exploit the space created either on or off the ball.

IMO it's like the old adage in cricket that you never take a run on a fumble, just in case it's not an error.

Yeah I don’t think there was any 3d chess thinking behind the poor passes out wide. They were just not properly weighted.

I saw the Coady incident live and was yelling yesssss! as soon as it happened. If you guys recall, against Liverpool, I criticized Xhaka our top midfielder for not making a similar foul to stop Jota from going past him before their goal. It’s all about ability to perceive and read or understand the danger. You know once the striker goes past you you’re in trouble so you foul him there and then and take a card if needed. And sometimes you’re lucky and get away with it totally. Good on Benny Blanco.

Dunno what Coady incident you were screaming yess at but the one goon is talking about that we got lucky with wasn't a foul White made, but the one where White pretended to get fouled and dived as the last man. Was a big risk that could have been a goal if the ref saw exactly what happened.

Maybe you're referring to the one Ricky mentioned when White took someone out off the ball, don't think it was Coady thougb.

He spoke about not passing to Tomiyasu because passed out to the fullback tend to put them under instant pressure. Wouldn’t surprise me if any balls out to Cedric were tactical.

Fair play some of you guys called this one pretty much spot on, a little raw and rough around the edges but would eventually come good, and that's pretty much exactly how it's transpired.

Will be amazed if he doesn't get into the England squad, he should be a starter really.
