IMO it doesn't matter if White is good enough or not regardless of his price tag, because a single change to our starting XI from last season is unlikely to be enough on it's own either in terms of personnel and/or style of play.
As it stands IMO the 150m+ spent on Partey, Gabriel, Saliba and White these last 2 seasons under the current regime, has been money pissed down the drain just like the money spent on Pepe & Co before them under the previous regime, and the money spent on PEA, Laca, Ozil, Sanchez etc under AW.
What makes it 'worse' is the reason is the same in every scenario since the break up of The Invincibles, which means we are still failing to identify lessons to be learned. We recruit in isolation by only looking at the position/role and not at the team structures and requirements based upon the tactic and style intended, and we always fail to follow through to complete the job so that we are always in transition basically lurching from one band-aid solution to the next, & we are always chasing our tails by never getting ahead of the cycle. We've been doing this for over a decade and based upon the evidence post AW to date we have not changed.
