The talent is there and it was evident in spells through time with us which was his first six months in a new country playing for a dysfunctional side. As he settles and becomes more comfortable with the team around him and his surroundings, he will get better and has the world class potential that this squad is lacking.

Didn't really see anything special in Odegaard to be fair. Didn't set the place alight. We shouldn't waste money on him either, already wasted it on Ben White and foolishly extended Xhaka. Almost a triple crown in stupidity with Ramsdale too.

He's great. Would easily be among our 3-4 best players.

I think so too. Harsh to judge him on his injury riddled 5 months here which were on the back of a handful of minutes for Real. He is technically secure and has a great attitude. He can play on the counter and in front of deep lying defences. The ball sticks to his feet. He has great vision and can control tempo. He isn't very athletic but he showed intelligence in abundance. I also believe he has the potential to increase his output. He wasn't shot shy nor did he hang yards from the box. Just 22. Improving the pace of his game and his movement is on the coach. If he does come hope Arteta can do it. I just don't know if it's not him or Maddison, then who do we look at.

That's exactly it. The ball sticks to his feet like glue, he makes the right and quick decision on the ball, and he works hard off the ball. He's what you'd want in a modern team. Maddison is a good player, who'll probably score more goals than Ødegaard, but Ødegaard is on a completely different level as a footballer. Far better.

Bit excessive but overall he's right. I like Maddison but he doesn't have Odegaard's ceiling. He'd cost a lot more, he's two years older and has played fewer minutes in his career even if Leicester have managed his minutes well, I also remember reading somewhere that his hip injury seems to be a serious concern for his career. Even if they're at a comparable level right now in terms of a potential transfer the choice is easy.

You can pick your poison, but odegaard being on a completely different level to Maddison is drugs talk.

For my money, Maddison is far better and will remain so, but we'll see in ten years I guess.

I don't blame him but this is what recent underperformance has cost us. Under Wenger we realistically could've got him.

Ah, more revisionism.

Even if Wenger isn't our current problem, he was certainly a problem towards the end of his reign. Let's not forget that. This ship was sinking before he left, so I have little doubt that if he were still our manager, the current predicament wouldn't be much, if at all, better.

Yeah, the ship was sinking, I agree. He did deliver CL football though until the last couple of years, and his name did help with getting players. Silva coming here doesn't feel out of place among Ozil, Sanchez, Auba, Cazorla. Our draw is lower today than Wenger's final years.
