Getting Abraham on loan with an option would be ideal if we can move Eddie and Laca. We'll be in desperate need of a striker next summer anyway, trailing Abraham for a season would be perfect. If he works out we get our replacement striker at a reasonable £40m or so. If he flops we move on.

with Chelsea selling giroud, would they really sell their only backup striker? I would have thought they'd only do that on the outside chance they signed haaland

We deserve relegation if this happens

Abraham is someone you can take a punt on if you get him on a free or if he's available for £5m like Adebayor, not for £40m. Guess there's not a huge risk on loan but just give the mins to give the mins to Martinelli and Balogun ffs.

If we loan or buy this log to play instead of Martinelli I can't be held responsible for my actions.

at this point i am incredibly pessimistic that martinelli can stay fit and handle the rigors of regular senior football. ive never wanted to be more wrong about anything, because i think his upside is immense.

we absolutely 100% should be moving laca and eddie this summer. signing another striker on loan isnt a bad idea, with the idea that martinelli should get first crack at those backup minutes, and if he cant stay fit, then we have another option. but why would abraham come here to be 2nd or even 3rd choice? doubt that happens.

Martinelli has the makings of a top goal scoring winger, not sure why people seem so insistent on making a CF

i'll gladly take tammy on loan (with a buy option) if it means laca is gone. and if that's the case we can't go into the season with the only experienced striker being an unmotivated auba who shouldn't even been playing up top anyway. the cream will rise to the top and balogun will get games and do the business. martinelli belongs out wide right now.

100 percent agree re Balogun. This will be his 'breakthrough' season.

Hopefully he is more Bukayo/Emile and less Reiss/Ainsley.

For me, it's because it's hard to ignore that he's pretty dreadful when one-v-one with a defender, and I think that will limit how effective he can be as a wide forward for a team that will face low blocks most weeks.

For me he won't be a top winger. The only reason I see him playing out wide is because we currently have a ton of strikers.

He gets crowded in the box. Out wide he has more space can run with the ball and make space for himself.

I think he has a bigger ceiling as a winger too, but where he plays is less important right now. What's important is that he gets minutes across the forward line next season. He has to be the main backup option. It's no good bringing players like Abraham in when we have guys like Marty waiting in the wings.

I think its fine if you are willing to let them battle for their place and not just go "well this is my guy, I signed him so no matter how shit he is I will play him ahead of the better player for 6 months no matter what"

He's a big guy, could be a great Plan B striker. My only issue with him is that he always seems to be reaching, lacks that bit of anticipation and technique.

I think he’s decent.

But now I’m skeptical. Just because he’s another one of those coming from one of our (former) rivals. Right age profile though.

Seven years after signing Welbeck and here we are discussing doing it all over again.

The bar for what we've fished out of Chelsea's bins has been set quite low so he would surely be an improvement on previous attempts, although I thought that would be the case with Willian too and then bar was removed entirely, let alone dropped lower.
