Big Willie
He's not good enough. Lacks the right mentality and disappears for large parts of the game. Near useless defensively. Especially when we're attacking and need "offensive marking".
He was shit defensively but once he got into the game a bit his passing was very good and more progressive than what Partey produced in the first half. He has a lot of talent, would be shame if we can’t unlock it.
Yeah, I agree with that. I still can't get past the fact that we've never given him a proper run in the team. He doesn't have to be an exact replica of Partey to be a success in that role; that's not to say he's been perfect by any stretch but I don't currently see anything in his game that can't be improved with regular game time.
Don Pacifico He doesn’t necessarily have to play the Partey role. Perhaps he would be better in the Xhaka role.
He needs a loan. That's for sure
Decent dribbler and good passing range but rubbish at everything else right now.
Gurgen Agreed, I don't think he has the defensive awareness or nous for that position.
He looked low on confidence, he needs a consistent run of games. Loan him out to Marseille!
Gurgen Potentially. I guess my point is, the way we see both the roles may evolve depending on the personnel available. I don't think it's as rigid as we might think.
It’s unreasonable to expect Lokonga to just get a decent run in the team. Where I will criticise Arteta/Edu is that if they felt this was a title push season in August, then they should have gone for a Caicedo type signing then and sent Lokonga on loan. Maybe they underestimated the team’s potential or overestimated Lokonga’s readiness. But something went wrong.
Claudius when did they say this was a title push season? i thought this was a top 4 season that turned into a title push.
Meatwad they didn’t announce anything. Just saying that a team challenging for the title under the Pep/Klopp era has very little scope for carving out significant development minutes. So this is why I wonder if Arteta underestimated this team in this summer
Claudius i don't get why you're wondering. no one at arsenal thought this was a title challenging season. top 4 was the goal, so yes they understimated the team this summer, like everyone else including the players who laughed at zini when he suggested a title challenge.
Would rather have kept him as Xhaka backup, hope we don't regret this.
I'm happy he's with Paddy at Palace. Will be able to keep tabs and see if he can sort himself out. Still all the possibility in the world for him.
Fingers crossed he really blossoms under Patrick.
He'll come back as Vieira Mk II
This is wonderful news. The boy needs to go be the man in peace. He will be a man on a mission
Good luck to him. There is definitely a player in there somewhere. Hopefully Vieira can get the best out of him.
Good loan for him. Hopefully Paddy will sort him out.
