We badly need a Guendouzi type though, there is zero urgency in the team. At least that busy idiot would try to take the game by the scruff of the neck when we were down.

Was solid yesterday, but was given space which he won't necessarily get against City and Chelsea. Would have loved to have had Willock available to change our forward impetus, but oh well...

Just imagine if we had Willock yesterday to drive at them. Selling him was a message to the rest to stay in their lane I guess. He must have pissed off Arteta so much by running ahead of the striker in training.

I still can't deal with that sale. Willock wanted a loan and they said no. Arteta won't be here next season and Joe will still be gone.

Not only that mate. Willock wanted a loan, Newcastle themselves admitted they would have preferred a loan, but we were the ones who were adamant we would only sell him. Madness.

It's nuts. White is a good player but come on £50m on him when we have another project of our own in Saliba is just complete mismanagement of resources.

I know White is a youngish player who needs time but I can't judge him as a project considering his price. Dude has to be judged against what we'd expect to get at those prices. Top class CBs.

That said, I'm not sure you can say the Willock deal has nothing to do with White. No way we'd be trying to sell so badly if it wasn't a case of needing money in which case the merits of the White deal need to be questioned given we spent so much on him.

I think they are just trying to be delusional and finding illogical excuse. It's like when you're hurting but trying not to face reality. At one point I was also convinced by them we must have tons of money to be able to waste 50m on White.

TBF they were leaking to all their favourite sources that we'd have a big window, a bit of an overhaul, etc so when we spent £50m on a CB early in the window its not crazy to think we'd keep going like that. It hasn't happened though so I don't see why people can't change their minds based on the facts in front of them.

I don't think it's because we can't afford transfer fees that we haven't signed more players - it's an availability issue. Hardly anyone is buying and selling, and the really good players that might be on the move are not exactly jumping to join Arsenal.

I'm delighted we signed White. If I'm wrong about his quality then I'll change my mind, but from what I've seen, I'm chuffed.

I'm happy enough with the Lokonga signing. Looks a player in the making. But for sub 20m I can judge him as a project.

With White, for me it's a completely different story. I can accept that whilst the guy is a good player, he is also a work in progress. Only reason I can't judge him as such is the fact that we spent so much on him when we already had works in progress like Saliba and when we had more pressing needs elsewhere in the squad.

For us to spend such a large amount on a position that was not one of our weakest areas, I feel it should only happen if it was a genuine ready made top class signing that popped up on the radar when needed or a luxury signing to add to an almost complete squad. White is not the former category and Arsenal are not in the latter.
