This is the key issue for me. There is a pattern here. I've said before big moves like this you get away with if you are successful, we've been failing though.

I've enjoyed the show much more than I thought I would - testament to the players and staff, and the editing a bit too. There is obviously so much more going on behind the scenes than we are shown, but it's been really enjoyable getting the glimpse that we've been given.

Saka asking some of the European lads if they know what a maze is - doesn't everyone know what a maze is?

Completely agree. This is not like 'oh it was just that one time'. This guy is not capable to adapt or be flexible when applying his rules. And that is a must when dealing with top tier players today, specially kids.

This has consequences, naturally. His incompetence here for sure was a factor in missing top4. Having Auba would have helped us regarding our dearth of goals. Selling him in the middle of the season was just stupid.

That's a very good point, it's a pre-emptive move. Who else would be taking notes of that if he didn't plan to use it in the future. I cant imagine myself taking notes of my subordinate minor wrongdoings if I didn't want him out of my team.

But then again Arteta did say he lost trust in him from very early on which begs the question why give him a new mega contract then?

And even if it is genuinely impossible - which it somehow wasn't at Saint Etienne, Dortmund, Arsenal for 2.5 years when he was scoring for fun and now Barcelona - I approach the issue in private, not in public. We ended up having loads of publicity midseason and ended up paying him to leave with no replacement coming in.

Agree with your last point however.

what did the lawyer ask? are his transgressions documented. clearly he was told a while back that he needed to do these things if he wanted to get rid of auba legally.

If you work at a fast food place and your fry cook comes in late twice a week sure you take notes, you also make sure however that you have a replacement lined up if you're going to try sack him. Auba wasn't exactly an easily replacable fry cook though, he basically gave you the keys to the restaurant in the first place.

Don't think I'd hire you either if your first reflex is to take notes for ammo btw.

QED. Clearly was told a while back ie Arteta had already decided he wanted rid.

Anyway if you ask the man himself he said the reason he ditched Auba was because after one look in his eyes he knew there was no more trust between them.

It's not a first reflex though, is it? That's the whole point. I wouldn't want to work for anyone to blind to see that, btw.

I agree you have to show some flexibility to get to your end goal. And people who were speculating that Auba was disliked in the dressing room etc clearly not true looking at the first few eps. He was a great influence and everyone love him

How did getting rid of Auba lose us CL football? I'd argue when we trimmed the squad down in January it seemed to bring the players together. Probably wouldn't have gone on the run we did if we had kept all those players.

Not adding to the squad and having another CM probably proved more fatal for our chances than getting rid of Auba, speaking of which we still haven't signed one....

auba leaving didn't weaken us, it strengthened us. his barca form just shows that he didn't care to show up for arsenal anymore. and barca obviously wasn't all that impressed by that form because they replaced him.

Seen all episodes now apart from the last one and apart from a few cheesy moments here and there, Arteta comes across super well on All or nothing imo. The absolute star of the show - shades of a young Pacino.

The post match reaction to Notts Forest was amazing. I agree with a lot of things he says tbh. I would be saying 80% the same if I was manager.

I think we can be proud he’s our manager. We may not get a manager that loves Arsenal as much as he does and that’s a big thing for me.

What is slightly concerning me is that dare I say it apart from Xhaka and maybe Ramsdale we hardly have any real characters in the team, most of them are far too timid or are kids with no life experience.

Arteta is like worth 4 characters himself.

P.S: Arteta has fucking balls. I’ve come out for this liking him more than I did before and I’m one of his biggest fans on here. It’s such a far cry from latter day Wenger days. He has without question raised the bar.

We'd probably do well to remember, when we talk about how much money has been spent on players for Arteta (and the amount of time it's taken to get to where we are now), the reason for that is the last days of Rome business Wenger conducted towards the end of his time with us.
