maddison and white alone takes us from 0 to 100 on the love island scale
Ben White
Notice how the majority of our targets are lean - Tet knows what’s needed
The Argus has been told there is currently nothing on the table they would accept for Ben White. Arsenal have shown the most interest. A well-placed source says it would take a number which makes it “nonsensical to say no” to move White. [@brightonargus@Brian__Owen]
Media from Brighton saying we are not close yet
The supposed offer is already a number which makes it nonsensical to say no.
i really hope beavis and butthead don't feel like they are under pressure to deliver someone like ben white to the fans and submit a more nonsensical offer than the one previously mentioned.
Benny Blanco to Arsenal done
(This guy very reliable)
Chuffed with this. He’s a super talent. No more faffing about at the back
Another one
done dealio
midfielders please
Well, no reason to be negative anymore. Let's hope he brings us up a level. If this works out he can start for us the next ten years.
Said it before but I'll say it again, I think we'll need to be patient with White. He'll have good games and he'll make silly mistakes, he's still a bit raw. Don't expect the finished article just because he's not Saliba.
Really like White, so very pleased. Hope we can get ourselves a quality midfielder other than Lokonga and a creative option. We might just end up having a much more competent side playing only once a week. Also, Arteta and Edu have no where to hide after this. £50 Mn for a center back to solve our creativity issues, no one can claim the side isn't built in Arteta's vision.
Ooow weeee

We’ll get a midfielder. We’ve put in a bid of £40m for Locatelli so the money is there for one

hopefully it doesn't take 3 years like pepe to stop feeling like you really got bent over. for this fee i'm expecting him to be elite by year 2. he's not some 20 year old prospect, he's 24 a month into the season.

Mistakes I can accept but for £50m you’d like to think it will be immediately visible what he brings to the table.
Anyway looking forward to seeing him.

If we make all our signings will we say thanks to Josh/Stan or still protest?

He's English so will have almost zero adaptation period.
When's the last time we signed a super highly rated English player that's in the NT? Really excited about this, like I said he's a super ball playing CB in the mould of Rio so will suit us well, ignoring the price and the rest of the things.

if we land all our signings and are still in midtable, but they don't sack arteta, then unrest is warranted

They’re American businessmen. Hire and fire is part of their culture. They got rid of Emery and if Arteta doesn’t step up first 3 months of the season don’t worry he will be gone too.
They didn’t become billionaires by being nice.

He became a billionaire by marrying into the Walton family and using their ownership of Walmart to leech his way into business.
yup. a truly self-made man would be driven to win. for him winning isn't a top priority ... it's something nice if it happens.
All Kroenke cares about is $$$ they'll get when they sell the club.
Usmanov is doing more for everton.
I doubt they’re fully money driven - they have enough of the stuff!
Billionaires never have enough. Look at Bezos and his employees pissing in bottles.
aye. kroenkes probably want their piece of space real estate too

That's all any of them care about.
You generally don't do that by destroying value though, the Kroenkes are just a bit rubbish. The Elneny of owners.

So you've heard of Donald Trump, right...?

Well hopefully we wont sign some geriatric tubster to keep him out of the first XI after we spend so much on him.

Since we can spend £50 million on a centreback like this and also loan out Willock I assume we have a proper midfield target lined up next, and not a discount runt like Aouar or something.
Hopefully, but other than the Loco kid it seems like our midfield targets turned us down or the we didn't cough up the asking price. Locatelli, Ode, Buendia. And players out like Xhaka isnt going too well. We didnt seem to be strongly after white at that point we were after the creative mids.

Depends on what the intent/objective/purpose is for both this summer and the season, which IIRC we were told (about the week following the UEL S/F loss?), had been determined and approved (weeks before the end of last season).
Worst case scenario being we simply want to 'improve' and regain UEFA qualification, whereas ideally IMO we should be looking to regain top4 and rebuild the team so as to be fit for that purpose.
However the biggest obstacle/s may be the requirement to sell before we buy, AND that we are now about 1 month from the start of the season. IF there is any priority to be able to hit the ground running, we may be at the point of having to forego any further activity in the market particularly as the likes of White (and Locatelli) are on the mandatory 3 week break following the Euros.
Alternatively if we do continue to look to sign players then the longer we take the greater requirement for them to either be both top4 quality and/or already be EPL ready, let alone that their current clubs remain willing to do business (hopefully because of COVID debt).
TBH I don't see there is enough time remaining to complete the purge, achieve a rebuild of the quality required to be fit for purpose to regain top4, AND be able to hit the ground running. I have little confidence we will achieve all of the above, and the only question is in regards to how much is going to be compromised.

If they were ever going to improve the club value as an asset then now is probably the opportune time to do so in terms of getting bang for their buck in a depressed market. However TBH I don't see any indication of either being a bigger priority than improving our efficient use of current resources/revenues, either with or without Arteta.
To be fair, assuming White and Lokonga are in deed done deals, we've already committed £80m in spending with reportedly 3 more first XI signings to come. I think they recognise they need to do their part now.
Where is the money coming from? Kroenke is just going to chip in with his own dollar? Doesn't feel like his style.
And for which positions are we targeting those reported 3 signings? (Sorry, I really haven't paid a lot of attention to the rumours.)
CM, AM and RB. Highly doubt we get all three.
What about a goalkeeper? From what I understand Ryan isn't going to be with us next season. Can't go into the season with Runarsson, Okonkwo or Hein anywhere near the first team.
Ryan has already signed with Real Sociedad.
Copy-pasted from Reddit:
-Sell on clause dependent on White's international career + PL/CL performances.
-White's short post Euro holiday should return next week.
-Arsenal made 4 offers for the player.
-£30m to be paid before the beginning of the 2022-23 season, remaining £20m to be paid by Summer of 2024.
-Upon agreeing the structure of the deal, Arsenal's senior executives requested that other interested teams(City, United, Chelsea) not be allowed to better those terms.
Might be trustworthy. That would explain why we're ok to pay "50M"
