I think you're misunderstanding the whole 'it's coming home' thing...
It's about hope rather than expectation/entitlement, hence why supporters still chant this song 25 years after it originally came out.
I'm not a massive England fan but to be honest, I find the constant ragging on us pretty tiresome and tedious. Yes, people overrate some of the squad and yes they probably get a bit overexcited about our chances but i'm not really convinced it's different from any other group of supporters (club or country).
