I think you're misunderstanding the whole 'it's coming home' thing...

It's about hope rather than expectation/entitlement, hence why supporters still chant this song 25 years after it originally came out.

I'm not a massive England fan but to be honest, I find the constant ragging on us pretty tiresome and tedious. Yes, people overrate some of the squad and yes they probably get a bit overexcited about our chances but i'm not really convinced it's different from any other group of supporters (club or country).

I like it. It's nice when there's a time in the year where the country feels somewhat together and celebratory even if it's to the point of delusion. The atmosphere has been brilliant just like it was in 2018 and I look back on that summer fondly. It may all come crashing down on Wednesday but so what? And while the media will always focus on the lunatics, I've yet to meet a fan who would outright say England are favourites. Iceland was only 5 years ago...

There will always be resentment towards England and green eyes thrown our way. Not much we can do about that!

Problem is all the talent is amassed in the attacking positions. The defenders are passable too to be fair, but desperately need some quality central midfielders.

this is probably why Southgate sets up so defensively. Doesn't actually trust his defence.

It's not any different at all.
Reminds me of the hype around the Irish rugby team, which makes me want them to lose every game they play.
I get it but there's definitely a dollop of arrogance and delusion there.

That said I'd not be bothered at all if England won.
