Well they've already started going long on kick outs despite having ball playing CBs. Southgate is happy to just give away the ball with long kick outs and then try win it back. He's horrid, but I like the England team him aside.

Obviously kane dived several times and sterling dived for the penalty. But that comes from having a shit manager with no decent attack despite an embarrassment of riches at his disposal.

Anything good that comes from England is just a momen t of individual brilliance because of the quality they ahve rather than an actual style.

Speedy I think they have been serial divers for years; their muscle memory and twitches are now geared to it. Agree with your sentiments although I do wonder if in international football, letting an XI improvise within a certain set of broader parameters and principles is a moderately successful strategy. I fee like Portugal and France found glory without too much established style. Someone mentioned a couple days ago about Southgate’s rudimentary blueprint, which resonated with me.

Fuck Gary Neville as well for his anti Saka campaign all week. This is the handbrake nonsense that made it so hard to buy into this management group under Capello and whoever else. I hate it.

Difficult one. On one hand, I think Southgate's right - it's a game of attrition and Italy looked their weakest against Spain the longer the game went on. I expect Italy to start the stronger of the two today as well and Southgate will target the 70-120th minute to go for it, the rest of the time Italy have the edge.

On the other hand I feel sorry for anyone watching expecting to be entertained.

I still think England will win it, but a very disappointing decision to drop Saka for Trippier. Very cautious and conservative and just annoys me to see that kind of football rewarded.

That's because Spain gave them the run around for most of the game, I find a hard time believing 7 defensive players, Mount, Sterling and Kane will have quite the same impact.
