I don't think many of us want Arteta to be our manager next season, so who do we want?

We are very much a mid table club now with no European football so it's going to be harder to attract top quality managers.

We're going to be dining at the lower tables.

I don't have much idea. Just looking around at some tables - Christophe Galtier and Niko Kovac in France, Marco Rose. Or Stevie G - that would be funny.

I've got no idea really.

Anyone got any bright ideas?

Marco Rose has already agreed to take over at Dortmund from next season. So he is out.

Kovac maybe. However he already has a very promising team surrounded by competent people to build something at his disposal in Monaco.

Lots of noise in France that Galtier will join Nice in summer irrespective of Lille winning the ligue 1.

Also, Marc Overmars seems to be doing well at Ajax. He has Arsenal history, let's get him in.

no idea. at least sacking arteta won't cost alot, but it does also mean we're a bit hamstrung on who we can afford to bring in. we baulked at allegris demands for example, so those tier 1 guys are off the table

Utterly imperative that we get the next appointment right. Another erroneous choice would be catastrophic and might actually damage the club beyond repair.

Scary thing is, the decision of whom will be chosen for the role will most likely lie in the hands of the individuals whose incompetence was what led us to this point in the first place.

I ummed and aahhed about which section to put it in - I thought it's kind of transfer related, but happy either way.

For the first time ever I actually have no idea if there are anyone good out there. Even Marsch is taken.

Maybe the Stuttgart guy but might be a job too big for someone as young as him.

I can only think of Rodgers. Not sure about Kovac brand of football.

not against Rogers tbh. cringey, but he would get way more from our forwards. we'd be flaky as fuck and prone to cesc-era style meltdowns, but we'd get the fans onside again with on-brand football

Someone mentioned Potter, I’d take him if we also brought in a massive DoF like Rangnick, but not with Edu.

He would instantly make us top 4 contenders again. Puel was nowhere near and Rodgers took no time to make them top 4, let alone our squad.

Tbf we don't need a special manager, we just need someone half decent to get 90% out of the players and then upgrade from there.

He also took Liverpool from 8th to 2nd in 2 seasons. I'd take Rodgers. He's shown he knows the league, he can play good attacking football and he's good at working with young players. Plus he probably knows who Leicester are trying to sign and they've been much better at that than us recently.

I was just thinking about that. Thank fuck he jumped on a new club so quickly, otherwise he would have started his PR campaign today and we would have been stupid enough to fall for it.

I just hope we go for someone who plays moderately attractive, fast paced football with lots of movement. I think other than Klopp, Rodgers and Potter are the only ones in the league who fit that description, and Biesla obv. but let's not go there.

I'm sure when Arteta was interviewed he'd have talked about how he wants to have a 1000 shots a game and 90% possession, which would trick you into thinking he's got an attractive footballing philosophy, but in reality from what I can see his style is all about control, patience and structure, all of which results in turgid football outside of any flashes of individual quality.
