Btw, as an African I’m just appalled by Uefa. Fifa Statute 15 states that the national football bodies shall be free from political interference. It’s been used frequently in the past by FIFA to discipline African associations. However, when Boris Johnson takes an active role to Uefa / FIFA’s benefit, this statute no longer seems to apply. in saying that, I don't think this is totally over. uefa have more leverage given how things have transpired, but I think they'll probably rethink their competition structure and put together an even bigger financial package to shut these clubs up

They already re-thought their competition structure and created a set up that gives teams like Arsenal a wildcard spot. But it wasn’t enough

Yeah, seems like the reason Arsenal put so much effort into the letter to fans is because they have no intention of discussing this further. Kroenke is just a cowardly shit - won't even stick his neck out.

The thing is the owners make a lot of these decisions and the directors have to implement the owners decisions, and then fall under the bus when it goes wrong. There was a championship football director on the radio earlier speaking about this.

Definitely. Maldini is one of the directors at Milan and he said he wasn't aware of the Super League until the same day as everyone else and that the owner had decided this without his knowledge. Sure you can't trust the directors themselves but I don't think he'd blatantly lie about the owner, he'd get in trouble.

I feel like Vinai knew though.

I think Vinai knew too. He's so deeply connected with the financial side of the club that it feels unlikely he wasn't consulted. I'm less sure about Edu though.

Yep, I'm not sure what Maldini's role is at Milan but I doubt it's anything strategic off the pitch. Similarly I doubt Edu was in the loop.

Vinai and Ed Woodward probably have a similar remit since both Kroenke and the Glazers are pretty hands off.

Woodward was a key player in all this from the sounds of it, but unlike Vinai he's a Glazier man.

Vinai definitely would have been aware, but to what extent he'd have actually been involved we will probably never know.
