The very impressive Luis Diaz who got name checked by a few here during Copa is signing for Everton with James Rodriguez set to go the other way. Will be interesting to see how he does here.

I was shocked to see it was United that Ronaldo is going to, but I'm not hugely bothered that he'll be playing for them. I'm jealous of the excitement their fans must be feeling and it annoys me that it will get them a fair bit of kudos, but he's not a great player any more. And he's largely going for a big payday at a club where he will be treated as the superstar he was a couple of years ago. That said, he'll be good for 20-goals still.

He is perfect fit for them. They just needed a consistent goalscorer and he is a world class poacher these days still capable of very special moments like in Euros. Look at how many points Cavani won for them last year. The United fans are over the moon, haven't seen so much joy from them in a long time and its so annoying.

It also speaks volume that United don't even need him, but simply signed him because they couldn't afford to let City have him and eggs on their faces

Not sure why that’s being touted as a good thing. Remember when they did that with Sanchez? It’s exactly why United have a 1bn squad a huge wage bill without coming close to winning anything.

That's phenomenal for a soon to be 37 year old and still a very good return on investment.

Even if he returns around 15 goals a season while he's there and gets them back to winning titles it'll be worth it.

Plus off the pitch, the increase in profile and marketing will pay off a large chunk of the cost.

If they wanted him that's great, go out and sign him when first offered rather than turning it down and then going for it when it becomes apparent that City are close to getting it done.

I suspect they turned it down in the first place because they thought there's better use of the £100m odd it will probably cost them to sign a 37yr old.

I think United were waiting to see if Juve were actually going to sell him. As soon as City made a breakthrough they then made their move. Smart if you ask me , let City do the groundwork and then go for it.

The good news is that Ronaldo and Cavani swapping minutes at CF will mean less time for Greenwood and that should stunt his development. We should throw in a cheeky bid for him.
