Looks like they will also sign Gonzalo Montiel from River Plate. He was very impressive at the recent Copa America.

Probably someone who we should have been looking at especially for the price being mentioned.

Better than him going to Totenham, but it's a massive shame we can't convince someone to pay us money for Lacazette and buy Vlahovic ourselves.

Lacazette is 30, don't see too many suitors lining up for him. Not to have a go at you but didn't you say money wasn't relevant to you? If that's the case we might as well have not signed White for 50m or at least sold Holding for 20m to partially fund his acqusition. Vlahovic would've represented satisfying a much bigger need than White anyway, if we were going to spend big just once it should've been on him (if not a CM).

I don't care about the transfer fee. How many times does this need to be said?

It's unrelaistic to think we could have a harmonious squad with a big time player like Lacazette sat around twiddling his thumbs whilst an upstart like Vlahovic (or anyone for that matter) taking his spot.

Not to mention, Lacazette is on £250,000 a week. Either we find a buyer or we make do for the next year.

Lacazette is shit for 2 years ago. People expected that we will get 30-40 for him I said we would be lucky to get 20m last year. Now he is worth nothing unfortunately. We failed to sell him after a purple patch and of course we will baghold him now.

You said elsewhere Laca is on 250k a week. You really think he's among the 10-15 highest wages in the league?

Arteta didn't mind benching Pepe (or even Willian) for kids, you think he'll be hesitant to bench Laca who hasn't been a fixture for more than a year now if a big and expensive talent is available?

I think Lacazette at 30 years old, previous captain of Lyon, former French international etc., would be apoplectic if he was benched for a talented kid. He's been here years, is one of the more respected and senior members of the squad, if he's not happy, it's not good for the squad or the coach.

On the wages, I have seen the figure mentioned a lot, and I wouldn't put it past the cretins that were running at Arsenal back then to have given him such a ridiculous deal. Would you?

From what I have read Lacazette makes £180-185k a week after taxes.

There's not a lot that I would put it past our management but I struggle to see it with Laca. He's been a good servant of the club but not very high profile, never had the name Özil Auba or Alexis had so I can't see how his people would've managed a salary like that for him. Not impossible though to be fair.

He played little over 50% of the maximum available time in the league. Don't think he would've kicked up a stink any more now than he would've in the past, transfer fees however would definitely be in the way of buying Vlahovic without any money coming in elsewhere, which is why I was saying a fee of 50m for someone like White is definitely something to keep in mind when assessing how good or sensible that transfer is.

I think the problems I mentioned are more important than whether we could find the money or not. Genuinely. I don't think it's a big deal. I think KSE would finance an important deal or we'd work something out over instalments. Whatever. It would be worked out. But you will never make a squad work with Lacazette, Aubameyang, Xhaka (Özil, Mustafi, Kolasinac) sidelined. It would be carnage (and it was).

If we're going to use Lacazette as a starter this season simply because of a theory that the rest of the squad wouldn't like that whoever is starting is based on what will be best for the team - then we might as well give up.
