Henry was 30, had massive injury problems and was barely worthy of being a starter by the time we sold him. Also I'm not sure you've quite nailed just how much transfer fees have inflated since then.
I reckon Cesc is the one we really did get robbed blind on even though in hindsight it seems like we did ok. Then again Tottenham got about the same for Modric who turned out to be a far better buy.
He was injured that year but was mostly fit for the majority of his career. Barely missed any game at Barca after he went there too and was one of their best player immediately. Transfer fees inflated massively but it has dropped back down this 2 years with covid and lack of suitors so will be interesting to see the fees.
Modric went on strike and refuse to even train. Rumours that Cesc did the same but he has always denied that. I think they are much better sellers than us, or the way they market their assets to receive 90m for Bale, 60m for Walker etc. Early Wenger days we used to do very well in over selling but since then our highest transfer fee received is still Ox for £35m.
