I don't agree. At that point of time it was either a left field choice like Arteta or proven but slightly uninspiring choices. Poch Rose and Tuchel are big misses but at that time they just had new jobs and no guarantee they will come to us.
Sacking Emery and appointing Arteta therefore is never wrong with the benefit of hindsight because the 2 trophies don't lie. Whether he should have gone earlier is a different story and discussion though
Someone like Allegri was available when we first went out. And then Arteta had a shocking period last November and December when Poch and Tuchel were available. There was an opportunity there.
To his credit, Arteta has 2 trophies. And I am hoping that his 2nd full season is full of growth and winning
I think KSE figured they didn't need to replace him at that time as they thought the ESL would be the joker in their pack. I also suspect they didn't feel the need to replace AW earlier re Klopp / Guardiola opportunities as he was still providing UCL revenues to keep us dining at the top trough.
IMO the issue is that it is more based on hope as opposed to any complete picture as to what the end result is going to be, and there are simply too many excuses associated with last season as a result of the club frakking up last summer. We basically pissed away the season for zero outcomes going forward, as we learned sfa we didn't already know or suspect about the squad, we didn't resolve those issues completely, and we have no clarity regarding our 2 rookies (Arteta & Edu) going forwards.
