But Silva is / was once a world Class player. We can’t make comparisons like that just because age.

I say that in jest. He isn’t a no name player, but I don’t count him as a world class player. Had one excellent season in about 2013 or so, but that’s about it.

If you insist he is world class then I’ll just say there’s levels to this. And he is not Thiago Silva level of WC.

Fair enough. Some might argue he was decent in 2018 when he won the Champions League and the World Cup as starter in both and made the team of the tournament in both and also was in the FIFA team of the year 2018. These teams often have some weird inclusions, but I don't think I ever saw someone argue that Varane shouldn't be in there.

you make it seem like trophies are assigned to those teams. the players don't win because they play for those teams. those teams win because they have class players and varane is no giroud who is just there for the ride, he was a key piece for club and country.

having said that i think we should pass (he's not looking for a club like ours anyway). i just took issue with saying silva was world class but varane isn't.

Really really hope they don't get him. It's such a change from the days where you were guaranteed a laugh because Sp*rs would hire flavour of the month managers like Juande Ramos and AvB.
