Arteta’s main problem is not being able to build consistent attacking patterns. Even against West Brom, there were moments where it was so obvious that it was time to make forward, penetrating runs but they just jog forward or stand there while the guy with the ball runs past them. I don’t know if it’s by design or just bad coaching. That’s why we looked like we had no urgency against Villarreal, they don’t know how to make runs or how to make space for others to make runs.

Maybe so but in terms of missing pieces we are a lot closer to where we want to be.

He is not lying. These are very very harsh words and must be painful in the dressing room but we have to stop sugarcoating. I’m sure someone like Saka will appreciate this. He must hate having to play with any of those right backs

a common theme of unadventurous coaches is viewing the number 10 zone with contempt. saw it with emery, and it's the same with arteta. to them it's a low percentage turnover zone so they choose to avoid funnelling play through it in any meaningful way. little to no line breaking passes through the middle, just the interminable horseshoe with midfielders staying behind the play instead of taking up aggressive positions to receive the ball close to the strikers. the only time someone is in that area it's a winger whose dribbled the ball in there hoping to open something up, laca dropping into that zone with mixed results, or a fullback underlapping.

They're not just ignoring the larger problem they're also blatant lies. Barring the youngins who are still at the start of theirs there's not a single player who hasn't had at least one better season in their career than this one, I'd even say the vast majority have hit rock bottom under him. To be fair he made a statement yesterday or the day before that the buck stops with him. So he’s not unaware that he hasn’t performed.

I think he’s aware that he hasn’t been good enough and the players haven’t been good enough. Those are two facts the Kroenkes cannot ignore. This summer we need to deal with the players at a minimum. If Arteta is fired in December, whomever comes in will need to coach those players.

It doesn't work that way. Arteta needs to go he's actively making the players worse. Imagine if Lampard got his way, I'm sure he'll have told Abramovich these players are uncoachable how am I supposed to put together a decent defence with Christensen and Azpilicueta.

There's always room for improvement with playing personnel but it doesn't mean it has to be new signings, people are afraid of becoming like Chelsea with their hire and fire policies but an Arsenal head coach calling his players shit in public is far worse to me.

Arteta has to go. Their is a lot of mitigating factors though

Emery and Wenger couldn't coach this lot either.

Lots of players didn't want to be here, and other manager flop in simular circumstances. Ranaeri at leister, Wenger's worse seasons were often when big players were clearly about to leave. Spurs had a big dip with poch after lots wanted to leave.

Transition to youth who aren't ready to put in consistent Gola's and assists. In the same way a young KDB and Salah were the same. ESR has one goal this season but when he's 24 he'll probably have 5-10. Marty has one goal agin when he's 23ish he'll probably get 10-15 per season.

Lots of players not wanting to be here normally means they put themselves into the shopping window for other clubs. Instead almost everyone plays their worst footy ever

Everyone has covid. Plus loads of clubs actually put together some of their best ever seasons right now, Moyes with West Ham, Lille in France, Sporting in Portugal, Frankfurt in Germany etc, most of them with much better support than us

All of these issues aren't Arteta's fault originally but all of them he failed to address properly. His handling of the squad, playing of favourites and public teardowns of guys he doesn't like are by far the worst, there are no mitigating factors left as far as I'm concerned.

I thought the quote was bullshit, but he actually said that? Can't believe how anyone can support that statement, Arteta in or not. It doesn't help to add a "the buck stops with me" after saying these players literally can't do any better. It's as effective as saying "no offense, but".
