The point Don is making isn’t about Arteta, it’s that when he goes the decisions are going to be made by Edu, Josh and Vinai. At least two of them know nothing about football.
Edu needs to take charge. Isn't he supposed to be the one running the squad operations etc? Obviously Josh hasn't a fucking clue.
We need to be in a position where we can change managers without it being a massive overhaul.
Absolutely. We are so overly reliant on individuals because there is no clear structure to what we do. Chelsea are rock solid in the back room, they know their roles and responsibilities, and they aren't allowed to hedge their positions with nebulous titles and remits that have no clear expectations. Josh is a terrible person to have at the club because he has zero accountability. He's essentially an owner pretending to be a director, it's nonsense.
The only person that has clear expectations is Arteta because he's the one who has to go out and win games. Just because we don't know what the rest of them are supposed to be doing doesn't mean they shouldn't be held just as accountable - in fact, it may very well mean they are even more at fault, but they hide behind an opaque corporate facade.
