I’m tired of Xhaka, and I’m sure Arteta is too, but I don’t really know what the options are. He is a bit like Luiz, a good but volatile player who will be prone to errors. I think in 2021, Xhaka has probably been one of our 4 best players with Saka, ESR and Leno. But Xhaka giveth and taketh.
And that’s a large part of what we need to sort out this summer. These high volatility players. If you are hoping to play these highly regimented systems, you cannot afford to have unreliable people.
We also just need better technicians. I watched the Atalanta - Crotone match today. Atalanta are a cheaply built team but all the players can pass and dribble. This is missing in our team. We need to change the make up.
As for Arteta - he needs to quickly ramp up on how he coaches offense and does substitutes. Both are glaring areas now.
