We are probably the only "big" club, if we still can be counted as one, to not sack managers hastily. We give them a lot of patience, back them with good expensive players especially the past few years and is generally well regarded as a very sensible club whose manager is never under real pressure. We have a world class stadium, good training facilities and generally good infrastructure for any manager to be attracted to, which is why there's over 10 good managers applying for the job when Wenger left. If Arteta is gone you can be sure the likes of Allegri or other good managers out of job will be seriously interested again.

That there are ten or so more attractive positions world wide in your field of work, most of which are unavailable, does not mean that the Arsenal job isn't extremely attractive.

The wages we pay are extremely high. Our failings in the transfer market are down to the man/ men the prospective manager will be replacing. The Kroenke's aren't picking who to sign. If these top managers aren't backing themselves then I don't know what attributes make them top in the first place.

For the Potters of the world it is mind blowing. But if we are chasing the top 3-5 managers in the world and they have options at the same time, they’d be steered away by our issues.

Listen to what the journalists have said about us in the last 5 years. We developed a bad reputation in European board rooms for how we did football deals, etc. If you’re David Moyes, you take it. If you’re Nagelsmann and a couple of big clubs call, you consider your options. You don’t just take it.

On the other hand there's probably more attractive jobs than attractive managers.

Likewise, not sure I get why Allegri is the obvious option. Don't know if there's something I'm missing but feels pretty damning that he'll have been out of work for two years by the summer.

Yeah well, just a personal choice. I just wanted to point out that there are top tier managers available and we can find the best fit for us.

In any case, I feel Allegri could construct a solid team defensively speaking, and instill a hard mentallity towards objectives. There would not be more clownish performances. And yes, football would be boring but I feel that we can assume that cost. And yes, this is all speculation.

Arsenal haven't had a clownish performance in quite some time. We've been well beaten, but nothing like Watford and Liverpool under Emery or the drubbings under Wenger. The idea that Arteta is too conservative and we don't score enough goals is pretty heavily undermined when you start advocating for a guy like Allegri.

Sorry Coombs but for me it is clownish to receive a goal made by a Sterling's header at the first minute of the match, when we already had noticed that the team did not start 100% focused (the Aston Villa match). I feel that that is completely embarrasing.

And I personally have never argued that the Arteta approach is too conservative. On the contrary, before the match against Man. City I advocated for playing defensively and try to win via counterattacks.
