Absolutely. We have a talented and young squad that anyone would love to manage and an owner who is willing to allow the club to spend to strengthen. We don't need to be stuck with this clown.

I think there has been more then enough time to hold Arteta to account and critically look at where we are. For me there is not really tangible progress over this his tenure to show any forward progression as a team. If he can't make an impact in this time frame i don't know what more time realistically does.

For me we made a very high risk appointment and it doesn't look like it's worked which is not that surprising given the nature of it. We need to have the ruthlessness to call and end to it earlier, if you go wrong that's not fatal but you must fail fast and not persevere with things that aren't working when you can see that.

it's the solksjaer zone of uncertainty. despite the little bursts of form he's shown here and there, most manyoo fans know he's not up to it longterm, but he keeps doing just enough to stay in the job and keep just enough of the fans behind him. I feel similarly about arteta.

That OGS comparison is how I feel. All the poor performances to date can't be forgotten even if he was inexperienced. Severely doubt he can execute the vision he has, but filling the squad with younger players and culling older options will just buy him a bit more time. I reckon he has another 3/4 months for his style to click, otherwise players will sense the limitations and he is back to square one.

I am a big fan of Potter. His teams are a well drilled in an attacking system that can compensate for lack of stardust in this League. Would love to see what he do with a squad like ours, however I fear that Spurs will be sizing him up as a replacement for Nuno Santos.

It'll be interesting when we play Brighton in the return fixture in a few months. If by that point Arteta doesn't have us playing front-foot, high pressing, quick combination football that is getting positive results most weeks then I think I'd be fully on board with changing managers. And Potter would probably be top of that list as things stand.

I don't get why people suddenly expect us to start playing front foot attacking football with Arteta in charge and that he'd somehow get us to start playing that way over the next couple of months when he's failed to do that in just under 2 years.

Or do we believe the players we have now are so much better than we've had in the last couple years that he's now able to get us to play that kind of football?

I just don't see it with him. All talk and no walk.

I really really hope he will come good but do people think its likely he will suddenly change away the conservative style he has employed over the past 2.5 years? Said it many times but to employ a style you absolutely do not need specific players. You can still do so and go on the offensive, but with inferior players you will still likely dominate but without consistent results.

Better players help you get results, not to define a style. That comes with coaching. You can give all the most attactive ball playing players to Simeone he is still going to go defensive and compact.

You're absolutely right, Clrnc. With time I can see Arteta improving results which the current squad (to what extent is open to debate) but I'm struggling to see us changing into a team that's on the front-foot, high pressing and playing quick combination football.

We'll see. I'm still confident that a switch to that kind of football is what Arteta intends, even if it's much less certain whether he can pull it off.

I'm happy for him to have until the new year, big money spent or not. I keep saying it, and I know you all disagree, but the squad needed to be ripped up, lots of new players had to be brought in. In my opinion, that was always going to render the time it took to accomplish all that and bed the new players in a complete write off.

For me, Arteta has passed the first test - he's brought some very good players in and got rid of a lot of the bad players. I can see a team forming with those new players and the cream of the players that are still here. And I'm happy to give him time to see if he can get this young new team performing in a way befitting Arsenal football club.

If in 3 months we turn in a half like we did in the first at Brighton then serious questions have to be asked.

Which test has Arteta passed, Ricky? That is like saying that a guy that is a F1 pilot passed the test because he learned how to drive an ordinary car.

The things Arteta has done could have been done by any of us. That's how bad things are right now. Give my neighbor 2 years holding pep's cones and I am sure he would perform like Arteta or even slightly better

the good thing is the players brought in look dynamic enough that any good coach could build around them. the only guy at risk is maybe odegaard. if a new coach comes that plays 343 or 433 his role may be redundant.

He's more than capable of playing in a 4-3-3 imo, but yeah, stylistically he's a little niche.

A good coach should be able to take a player with as much talent as Odegaard and mould him into something to fit his own vision.

I don't think Arteta has passed any tests at yet. He's spent a decent amount of money certainly on players who's age categories are more beneficial for the club so that's good. I don't think it's possible to determine try whether those recruitments are good or not. That's not a criticism of him but you can't assign a signing a success couple of games into their time with us.

So far there has no real consistent improvement that Arteta has brought. I find it odd that someone like Emery got to a point where everbody could recognize he had his time and it wasn't going anywhere but with Arteta him being a novice seems to allow people to create this hope that this is bad but it will be better next year because he just will get better etc.

He's a coach first and foremost, not a director of football or a scout. Why should he get credit for getting in good players? Did you give Emery credit when PSG signed Neymar and Mbappe?

We're playing horrible football and have been for 90%+ of the time he's been here. Whenever the team will have gelled certain players will have become too old in the eyes of some fans like Auba (who was still on fire when Arteta came) or lost form like Tierney and Martinelli have recently. The head coach needs to be able to get good football out of whatever he has at his disposal; he only deserves more time and backing if he does show some promise. Loads of scouts and coaches can recognise talent and pay through the nose for it, what exactly did Arteta do to be the one to be in charge of the club?
