That may well be so but at the same time IMO it is about going with the flow as opposed to making things happen in your favour.
IMO it's the same sort of thinking that saw us never take advantage of our Cash Reserves or revenues in regards to FFP under AW = we could afford to push the envelope financially to our favour but we never did. Bottom line when looking to sell you are never going to cover expenditure in a depressed market unless you are prepared to sell your better resources as based upon market demand. I think we are blinkered by looking for returns on our poor decisions, as opposed to the potential for better long term gains if we were prepared to accept the losses based upon those same poor decisions = the sins of the fathers etc.
More to the point with the mega TV sponsorship IMO there is no longer the time to look at squad building over a 3 season window as those around you have the financial capacity to simply spend to get ahead.
