The default playing formations are very clear. The only thing that Arteta has done is flex how far up he pushes the 2nd central midfielder depending on who is at left back. We have played exactly the same way for five months. The person who wrote that is talking utter unbridled horse shit.
The only things that change are the personnel and the impact they have on the team. Xhaka at CM brings more stability to the center and gives Partey freedom. Conversely, Bellerin at right back constrains offense because he pushes up and gets on the inside of the five lanes, pushing out the wide right AM. Finally, we have varied the pressing a lot but our final numbers have us amongst the big six. The big issue with pressing is probably a personnel / schedule issue. The latter has similarly impacted pressing teams like Pool.
