Does anyone actually think Arteta is actively trying to make us a worse team or trying to let players go on the cheap? He doesn't really make those decisions (though I'm sure he has a say in if he has any plan for them, but how much we sell for isn't up to him). I am sure he has specific types of players in mind for what he thinks he wants to accomplish, and perhaps Guendouzi isn't anywhere near that.

Specifically about Guendouzi, to me he seems like he has an attitude problem (fair or unfair), doesnt really follow directions and runs around like a headless chicken. Every once in a while he shines, but I don't see anything all that special about him to bother keeping him if someone else wants him. I do not think he will be better any than Rabiot (who has his own flaws). I have never watched Douzi play and think "man, now that kid's got something special about him". Just my own impression.

Maybe Arteta doesnt think he's a 'bad' player, but perhaps just not anyone special enough to appropriate his effort to. He's not solid enough defensively or positionally, nor is he amazing offensively. To me, that makes him a middle of the road decent player. At 22 years old, there should be some kind of idea as to what his main strengths are, but I simply don't know what those are.

Nah I was against Artetas handling Douzi even when I was still pro-Arteta.

Guendouzi had the same tactical issues most young CMs do but he had and still has tons of potential. I'm really disappointed because I thought Arteta would be really good for him because they play a similar role and Arteta was a bit of a master in when to give someone a kick or a trip.

I think the truth is actually outside of the Arsenal echo chamber, not somewhere in the middle. We need to learn from how other clubs and other managers rate our players. What makes no sense is to demand that a manager keeps a player he doesn't want, even if you can sell him for a profit. Who really cares about these individual dramas? Ya'll are the ones spinning tales of Arteta being hard-headed and stubborn, etc. Guendouzi and Arteta could both be in the wrong, and it'd still be the right choice to move the kid on.

I think Arsenal are more likely to improve with Arteta than with Guendouzi, but I also think we're more likely to improve by building a coherent team around any one manager and/or technical director at this point.

I keep seeing this argument every now and then and it never made sense. There were no queue or market for Malen, Bennacer, JRA for example to name a few and we sold them for absolute peanuts. It doesn't mean they ain't good, it just meant we didn't market them well. Liverpool for e.g. are expert and making their players seems more valuable than what they are. We should be in more of a position to rate our own players and it has shown that our then manager made a mistake rating them so low without even bothering putting a buy back clause.

Guendouzi made the 4th most appearances over 2 seasons for Arteta and Emery combined amongst all players. He was once highly rated by many as evident in the threads and have quite a few MOTM and player of the month. We seem to forget about his potential sadly. If he didn't have a beef with Arteta I am very certain he will still be playing for us rather than someone as average as Elneny.

I've said time and again that I wouldn't mind at all if Arsenal sacked Arteta, other than being a bit sad it didn't work out and dreading the never-ending cycle of upheaval at the club. I thought he should've been fired before Christmas. They aren't going to now, though, so what is the point in wondering? Time would tell, but I bet he'd get a job pretty quickly. Very unlikely it'd be at a club as big as Arsenal.

I'm prone to supporting anyone who plays for us or manages us just because they've got Arsenal badges on. It's not because I never want them to leave and because I think they're brilliant geniuses.

Yes I do. I think we were worse off this season without him. He'd have offered more than Elneny and Ceballos.

I hope we keep him too. He deserves to play ahead of Gabriel I think, and probably will at the beginning of this season too, seeing as Gabriel won't be back in time from the Copa. It's not a good time to offload him.

Why would we get rid anyway? Might have made sense if we were keeping Saliba but if he’s going out on loan then it makes no sense. Plus Mari actually had decent game time, don’t buy for a second that he’d leave for Besiktas.
