to your first paragraph, yes extending his deal would make me feel like we're actually handling things somewhat competently. I don't see why he'd necessarily want to renew though
to the rest of your post - your views still operate from the foundational assumption that those in charge know what they're doing, whereas a good chunk of posters are eyeing their moves through a prism of mistrust/suspicion. eventually enough little red flags pile up to where you have start calling a spade a spade instead of believing it's part of an 8D masterplan
I mean, just because i’m not running around calling him a “dogshit fucking manager” because he won’t throw a 20 year old into a backline that finished third in goals conceded doesn’t mean i don’t have issues with some of the decision they’ve made. I just don’t see this as being as one of them. The Willian situation, the Villareal lineup (although made under difficult circumstances) and the Leno/Emi situation could all have been handled differently, i thought. But that sort of shit comes with being a manger. I’m not waking up in a hot sweat over Willian playing so much before christmas because it looked like he learnt from it. As long as i think he’s learning from his mistakes, i can live with them. It’s all part of the process in my eyes. Am i not allowed to think that way?
Sure. That’s fair enough. I think it was Qwiss who laughed at me, definitely wouldn’t’ve been the only one, when i suggested that the table might look a bit more complimentary if we didn’t spend the lead up to winter finishing games with 10 men, or if a VAR decision had gone our way once in a while. He said i was living in an alternate reality or some shit. Yet here some of you are, living in this reality where Saliba is so upset that you’ve decided he’d decline a contract extension if offered.
Considering the same was assumed for Saka and Martinelli and Auba and Balogun, i’m not going to include Tierney because he thinks the sun shines out of Arteta’s ass so there wouldn’t have been much convincing going on, i’m optimistic that they’ll be able to tie down Wilo if/when the time comes. You guys can live in a reality where that won’t happen, i’ll live in this one, where it could still happen. I’m not going to get upset about hypotheticals. I’ll get upset about it when we sell him to make room for Ashley Young, not before.
