Xhaka going for a base fee of €12 Mn after the tournament he has had, while we buy Lokonga for €17 Mn will be a bit ridiculous. Talented youngsters can be more expensive than established, experienced, aging players but that rumoured offer for Xhaka is just not on.

I think it's fair from his side. He wants Inter Miami to match the wages he is receiving now that's all. 165k+ for a free agent for them should be pretty manageable, think MLS clubs normally pay decent salary

Excerpts from the Athletic regarding Villa's persistent bidding for ESR

Arsenal have flat out refused both bids and communicated that there is no price at which they’d sell. Villa see this as a negotiation tactic.
Arsenal selling ESR would generate enormous fan unrest at Arsenal. Cites his position as an academy graduate and his importance to the team.
£50-60m million might tempt them to start considering but even that is considered far too low internally.
Villa and others see Arsenal as a team in decline. Selling ESR would confirm that.
No indication at all that ESR would be interested in joining Villa but his camp is happy with the interest as benefits their negotiating position.
As reported last month, Villa have set aside funds to improve attacking areas but at present, are not interested in spending a club-record fee on a striker for the third year running.
They see their ideal starting forward four consisting of Watkins, Buendia, Jack Grealish and another new signing, with Smith Rowe being the pick of the bunch when it comes to desired further additions.
Manchester City are also likely to firm up their interest in Grealish with a bid and if it reaches £100 million, it’s understood he will leave. Villa are trying to stop that pursuit, though, by offering their captain another contract.
If the chase for Smith Rowe falls short, Burnley winger Dwight McNeil may be looked at as an alternative. The 21-year-old has already been discussed as a player of interest.

Anyway better news on the exit front, after speaking to Arteta and Edu, Saliba has pulled out of the French Olympic squad to focus on pre-season with us which is seen as key to his Arsenal future, make or break for him. Great on the lad, he mentioned in the other interview few months ago it was his lifelong dream to win an Olympic medal so if he can sacrifice that once in a life time chance to focus on Arsenal it's a huge positive.

this actually offers us the best of both worlds, two rightfooted CBs and two leftfooted CBs. mari is older and has experience, which would benefit saliba a lot if those two are paired up. gabriel and white both have EPL experience and can start out as the first choice pair.
