At least we were able to tell Brighton that Ben White only has one season of top league experience and that they got him for peanuts, otherwise we'd have to pay much more for him.

What is the average fee for a player of his quality.
I think something we are all guilty of is pulling out a few Liverpool outliers and using them as the standard for all transfers. It would be good to compare these fees against the median for comparable players rather than one unrepresentative transfer fee.

7m is a buying option, not obligation.

Option isn't good but the fee is alright. He'd be worth double that if he wasn't this injury prone, like this he's a serious squad risk to any team relying on him.

Not that he's necessarily right but what Ornstein said was 500k loan fee + 3m to buy (obligation if they stay up, option if they go down) + bonuses of up to 1,5m.

The year we only brought in Cech? The year we blew the better part of £100m on guys like Xhaka, Mustafi, Perez etc? That was the good ole days?

What's the assumption made on our poor fees? That the scouting teams for everyone in Europe are missing all these quality players we've got up for sale at bargain basement prices?

Doesn't that sound kind of similar to your theory that we sell poorly because scouting teams for everyone in Europe undervalue our players due to not being able to see through the bad reputation you get from playing for Arsenal?

Yeah. I'm not saying we're getting good fees for these guys or their true worth, and I do think the likes of Stuttgart and whoever buys Douzi are potentially getting really good deals.

Maybe we are poor sellers, but that does not explain the lack of interest in these guys. The lack of interest however does partially explain why our negotiating hand is weak.

Transfer business has been much better these past few years.

Can’t argue with additions like Partey, Martinelli, Tierney and Gabriel

It all ties in for sure and explains the modest prices these guys are available for, but the fact that interest doesn't increase despite the supposedly low value tells me it's not actually all that low unless you happen to think scouting accross Europe is really trash.

If nothing else, you'd have thought the likes of Sven, Emery, Campos and other transfer wizards would be sensing an opportunity to capitalise on the Douzi's situation.

Wenger treated many players and prospects like muck.

Lassana Diara, Gnabry, Oxlade-Chamberlain to name a few

Wenger lost the plot once the money started coming in. that pre 2012 Wenger would've done wonders with players like isak, maddison, lokonga, saliba etc.

There’s a big difference between the Wenger who was watching a Sweden national team game one night and moving for Ljungberg the next day versus late stage Wenger. Two totally different animals. I think the club became too big for him alone without Dein. We were extremely wasteful in his latter years

Not sure what anyone is upset about. We paid peanuts for him and sold him for a few more peanuts.

This is exactly the same thing many people here said about Gnabry when he was sold, plenty was happy to get 5m for him because he was injury prone and I said lets look back in a few years time and within 2 years people looked stupid.

I rate Mavropanos, I think its a big mistake to sell him on such a cheap unless we have a cheap buy back clause too.
