Thats my thinking too. Worrying that its happening though, makes you wonder about negotiations between the ESRs people and Arsenal. I'm afraid the people in charge don't see him as being as important as most fans do.

I think it's likely just the agent doing his job and trying to maximise what he can get his client, while the club probably know ESR wants to stay. Pretty standard, see Balogun for an even more extreme example.

I reckon players of this age/profile are always tricky to negotiate with.

the only way it makes sense is if we are in for graelish, and our signing him is contingent on us selling them ESR. the only other possibility in my mind is that we think there is something physically wrong with ESR and we know he wont be able to stay fit, so we are prepared to sell now.

Don't make sense either. If we are in for Grealish they won't even bother to bid because they can request to swap.

Yeah just the agent feeding out info that he is available. Not too worried tbh. I know most people said the same about Buendia that he will never go to Villa but ESR is a different ball game.

Interesting that Villa are preparing are fresh bid for Smith-Rowe. If our club’s thinking is they should get Maddison for £60m and sell Smith-Rowe for £35m in the interim, then I’m not delighted. It’s a very marginal and short term improvement where both Villa and Leicester will do better than us in the long run.
But will wait to see the final result

That's a shit decision , hope they kill that though immediately. ESR has plenty of improvement in him, Maddison is nothing special , waste of time. I stand by that, he will not do well for us.

Maddison is definitely an elite attacking AM. He will give us much more next season than ESR could. But within 2-3 seasons, ESR could evolve into similar. The question is what are our investment horizons. Are we comfortable building for a 2 to 3 year time horizon, or are we still looking to strike in the next 12 months as we always have?

Surpised to see Trae Coyle off. Wasn't he touted as one of the best talents in our youth teams? Guess the injuries took too heavy a toll on his body.
