Sounds odd, Ive heard of Co paying wages when a player is on loan somewhere but not for six months of a 3.5 year contract.

Wouldn't have been a mistake if this guy loves football and gave a toss about us. It was the right thing on hindsight to offer him a new contract, maybe not as much as to give in to his wage demands but the idea is there.

Ozil behind Auba with 2 proper wingers in theory should have set us up for a really good 3 years, even ignoring his first 4 years of inconsistency. What happened next is something nobody can predict.

Harsh on Wenger.

No matter where we all stand now, Wenger achieved absolute greatness, and always put the club first, no matter how misguided.

I personally love Ozil’s playing style and he was brilliant at times, but unfortunately his last two-three years have been a farce. Four different managers have dropped him from the matchday squad, mysterious absences etc.

Yep. Wenger, for all his faults, never wasn’t trying hard or doing his best for Arsenal. His flaw was he didn’t recognize he was past it.

Ironically, one of Wenger’s biggest mistakes which ultimately contributed to him losing his job was probably his overindulgence of this prat. I seem to recall that he was never subbed under him whatever the circumstance.

Might be im just a bit obtuse but I can't think of any other case like this right now. Either you wave a transfer fee or you subsidise someone's wages if they're going on loan, not both for a permanent transfer.

Y***ted did this for Rooney as well if memory serves when he transferred to the MLS. It's akin to us paying off 6 months of his wages and to be able to terminate his contract and him subsequently finding another club to play for.
