i think the best option is to offer to terminate his contract and let him leave on a free. if he wont go to the middle east, then no one in a top league is going to pay his full salary. so if its a sporting thing for him, then just let him go. it saves us the massive wages, and lets him pick the club he wants to go to. if he wants to hold out and keep his current wages, then we should accept the loan to saudi club and let him figure out if he just wants to boycott and not play. arteta has ruined him here (and to be fair, he seems to have gone off the edge too off the pitch), so i cant see him doing anything for arsenal again. offer him the ability for a clean slate and let him leave. we're not getting a transfer fee for him anyway
Why is terminating his contract (paying all of his wages) better than loaning him out (paying some/most of his wages)?
that isn't what i meant. what i meant by terminating his contract was basically saying both parties should agree to just tear up the contract and make him a free agent, then he can go sign a new deal with whatever club will take him, and he can take the wages they offer him.
i believe thats what we just did with kola, right? we terminated the contract, especially ripping it up, and he then went and signed a contract with another club. we arent paying his full wages for what would have been the remainder of his arsenal contract, i dont think
